Gemütlichkeit (ɡəˈmo͞otlikˌkīt) refers to a feeling of coziness, contentedness, comfort and relaxation. It is difficult to translate in one word. It refers to an atmosphere, one surrounded by close friends, good food and drink while music plays in the background.

Anton’s Garden opened in the late Spring of 2019 in the tradition of German Biergartens to bring the spirit of Gemütlichkeit to Downtown Waterloo. Located in Newton’s Park we are a gathering spot for food, beer, and an atmosphere of community.
